Charter for ca.unix
ca.unix is for technical discussion of Unix or Unix-like operating systems
and their use within California.
Articles must be from or related to California.
Subjects appropriate for ca.unix include (or are similar to)
- questions and discussion among Californians about operating Unix,
- events of interest to Unix enthusiasts in California, or
- discussion and announcements of experimentation with Unix in California.
Jobs listings, even if for Unix and California, should not be posted
in ca.unix because there are other newsgroups better suited for them
and they are not techincal discussion.
They have had the effect of stifling discussion in ca.unix
by flooding the newsgroup.
Jobs for Southern California should be posted to la.jobs (Los Angeles).
Jobs for Northern California should be posted to the most appropriate
ba.jobs.* (Bay Area) subgroup.
Technical articles related to Unix but not fitting this charter may be
better-suited to one of the newsgroups in the comp.os, comp.sys, or
comp.unix hierarchies.
Check charters and/or guidelines before posting in any newsgroup.

Rules in common among all the ca.* newsgroups:
The ca.* newsgroups are only for discussion of subjects related to
California. They were made for residents of California and others
interested in California. They are intended for topics directly relevant
to residents of California. The general policy is that any topic not at
least partly related to California is considered off-topic, though the
specific newsgroup charters may list exceptions.
