Directions to Round Table Pizza at North First and Tasman

Round Table Pizza is at 3730 North First Street in San Jose, just north of Tasman Drive in North San Jose.

This is a new restaurant that opened for business in March 2005.

The is the sbay.org pizza meeting location for 2Q2005, 3Q2005, 4Q2005 and 1Q2007.

We've confirmed this location has two advantages:

free WiFi (802.11B wireless Internet access). It was installed during the month after the April 2005 SBAY Pizza. It has since been changed to use WPA security but is still open to customers. In case of problems, we can have some members' laptops act as routers for others.
With a cheap SVGA-to-SVideo adapter, we can display laptop screen and audio on the big-screen TV.

From Hwy 237:

Take Hwy 237 to N First Street (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 7. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Turn southbound on N First Street. Continue 3/4 mile.
Turn left on Nicholson Lane.
Turn immediately right in the first driveway. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.

From Hwy 87, downtown San Jose and South San Jose:

Take Hwy 87 northbound to the end of the highway.
Take Exit 9A right to North First Street.
At the second traffic signal, turn left (northbound) on North First Street.
Continue 2.5 miles on North First Street.
After passing Tasman Drive, turn right in the first driveway or at Nicholson Lane. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.

From Sunnyvale and Cupertino:

Take Lawrence Expwy northbound to Hwy 237.
Take Hwy 237 eastbound for 2.2 miles to North First Street. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 7. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Turn left from the ramp (southbound) on North First Street. Continue 3/4 mile.
Turn left on Nicholson Lane.
Turn immediately right in the first driveway. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.

From Berryessa and Milpitas:

Take I-680 to Landess Ave/Montague Expwy. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 6. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Take Montague Expwy southbound for 1 mile.
Turn right on Great Mall Parkway. (Use the elevated light rail guideway structure as a landmark - it's above the median of Great Mall Parkway.)
Continue for 1 mile on Great Mall Parkway.
Great Mall Parkway becomes Tasman Drive - continue for 1.8 miles.
Turn right at North First Street.
Turn right in the first driveway or at Nicholson Lane. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.

From East San Jose, Morgan Hill and Gilroy:

Take US 101 northbound to the North First Street and Brokaw Rd exit. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 389B. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Turn left onto Brokaw Rd.
Turn immediately right on North First Street.
Continue 2.8 miles on North First Street.
After passing Tasman Drive, turn right in the first driveway or at Nicholson Lane. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.

From Santa Cruz, Los Gatos and Campbell:

Take Hwy 17 northbound.
The freeway becomes I-880 northbound after I-280.
Continue 7.5 miles northbound on I-880.
Take the Great Mall Parkway/Tasman Drive exit. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 8A. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)

From San Francisco and the Peninsula:

Take US 101 southbound to Hwy 237 in Mountain View. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 396B. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Take Hwy 237 eastbound for 4.6 miles to North First Street. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 7. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Turn left from the ramp (southbound) on North First Street. Continue 3/4 mile.
Turn left on Nicholson Lane.
Turn immediately right in the first driveway. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.

From Oakland, Walnut Creek and the East Bay:

If using I-680, cut over to I-880 using Hwy 242/Warm Springs District exit in Fremont. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 12. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Take I-880 southbound to Hwy 237. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 8C. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Take Hwy 237 westbound for 2 miles.
Exit at North First Street. (Caltrans plans to mark this as Exit 7. The sign was not yet up at the time of this writing.)
Turn left (southbound) on North First Street. Continue 3/4 mile.
Turn left on Nicholson Lane.
Turn immediately right in the first driveway. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.

Via Public Transportation:

VTA Light Rail: The nearest stations are at Tasman and Baypointe. (These directions have been updated to reflect VTA's Aug 2005 light rail changes which change the Mountain View line to go to downtown San Jose and on the new Vasona extension to Campbell.)
- From downtown San Jose: take a northbound "Alum Rock" or "Mountain View" trolley to Tasman.
- From South San Jose: take a northbound "Alum Rock" trolley to Tasman.
- From Mountain View, north Sunnyvale or north Santa Clara: take an eastbound "Winchester" trolley to the Tasman station (immediately after the train turns from Tasman Drive to North First Street).
- From Alum Rock, Berryessa and the Great Mall: take a westbound "Santa Teresa" trolley to Baypointe.
- From Campbell and the downtown San Jose train station: take a northbound "Mountain View" trolley to Tasman.
The Round Table Pizza is on North First St less than a block north of the Tasman and Baypointe stations.
Purchase a pass at a ticket vending machine on the light rail platform before boarding the trolley.
VTA bus: no bus lines serve First and Tasman on Saturdays. If you have another return route, buses 33 (Tasman to Great Mall via McCarthy Ranch) and 58 (Alviso to West Valley College) stop at Tasman light rail station before and during the meeting.
Caltrain: Take Caltrain to the Mountain View station where you can transfer to VTA light rail.
Buy a ticket at the vending machine before boarding a Caltrain. Note that on weekends, all Caltrain service is "local" - trains stop at all stations. There is no bullet or express Caltrain service on weekends.
BART: BART doesn't serve the South Bay but there are other transit connections from either Fremont or Millbrae.
- From Fremont BART:
  - Take a VTA 180 Express bus to the Great Mall transit center.
  - Get a day pass so you can use it on the light rail.
  - At the Great Mall, take the elevator or stairs up to the light rail station.
  - Board a westbound trolley on the side of the platform where the signs say "Baypointe".
  - Exit at Tasman. At the station exit, take the crosswalk to the right.
  - Turn left and cross Tasman Drive.
  - Continue north on North First St. The Round Table Pizza is less than a block on the right.

  - Take Caltrain south to Mountain View.
  - Take VTA light rail east to Tasman.

Fly-in directions:

These are directions from local airports with a rental car or public transit. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan to fly in for an sbay.org pizza.

From San Jose International Airport, airline terminal (by car):
- Follow the signs to exit the airport at Hwy 87 northbound. When entering the freeway, stay in the right lane because you'll be taking the next exit.
- Take Exit 9A right to North First Street.
- At the second traffic signal, turn left (northbound) on North First Street.
- Continue 2.5 miles on North First Street.
- After passing Tasman Drive, turn right in the first driveway or at Nicholson Lane. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.
From San Jose International Airport, SJ Jet Center general aviation terminal (by car):
- Turn right onto Coleman Ave.
- In 3/4 mile at the Santa Clara interchange, stay right toward De La Cruz Blvd.
- Continue 1.4 miles on De La Cruz Blvd.
- After US 101, the road changes name to Trimble Road. Continue 3/4 mile.
- Turn left on North First Street.
- Continue northbound on North First St for 2 miles.
- After passing Tasman Drive, turn right in the first driveway or at Nicholson Lane. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.
From Reid-Hillview Airport (by car):
- From the airport exit (Cunningham Rd), turn left onto Capitol Expwy.
- Continue 1.7 miles on Capitol Expwy to I-680.
- Get in the right lane to enter I-680 northbound.
- Continue 4.4 miles on I-680 to Montague Expwy.
- Take Montague Expwy southbound for 1 mile.
- Turn right on Great Mall Parkway. (Use the elevated light rail guideway structure as a landmark - it's above the median of Great Mall Parkway.)
- Continue for 1 mile on Great Mall Parkway.
- Great Mall Parkway becomes Tasman Drive - continue for 1.8 miles.
- Turn right at North First Street.
- Turn right in the first driveway or at Nicholson Lane. The Round Table Pizza is at the middle of the complex.
From Reid-Hillview Airport (by transit):
- The airport entrance is Cunningham Drive. Exit the airport and cross Central Expressway to the VTA bus stop.
- Catch a VTA bus 31 or 522. Get either a day pass or a transfer so you can use it on the light rail too.
- In about 10 minutes (bus 522) or 15 minutes (bus 31), exit at the Alum Rock Transit Center.
- Go to the light rail platform and board a "Santa Teresa" trolley. (That's all there is since it's an end of the line station.)
- In a little over 20 minutes, exit at the Baypointe station.
- Walk 1 block west on Tasman and less than a block north on N First to the restaurant.
